"Notes from a Bottle" Ambiguity Paragraph
In "Notes from a Bottle," James Stevenson's use of ambiguity engages the reader.
For example, in the story it was stated, “ There has been constant speculation on the cause of the flood”. This shows that, the cause of the flood is ambiguous to the people in the story and to the reader. In addition, that means that people didnt know what was the reason of the flood. This also shows that people didnt really seem to care that much about the flood. This also, shows that people wondered about the flood, because it was stated that they thought about it. In conclusion, it is still unknown in the story that what was the cause for the flood. But thats what makes it ambiguity, because neither the characters in the story nor the reader, know what was the cause for the flood.
